Formulas across cells, tables and worksheets
Calculate with arithmetic, conditional sums, lookups, text, date and financial functions. Dynamic-array formulas such as FILTER and SEQUENCE fill a range of results. Named ranges and named functions give repeated calculations their own names.
Formatting, validation and worksheet structure
- Several worksheets
- Keep separate sheets in one workbook and refer to values on another sheet in a formula.
- Tables that grow
- Turn a range into a named table. New rows can extend the table and its calculated columns.
- Clearer values
- Format currencies, dates and percentages. Conditional formatting can mark values that meet a rule.
- Valid entries
- Use dropdowns, checkboxes or other validation rules. Choose whether an invalid entry should be rejected or shown with a warning.
- Rows you can navigate
- Freeze rows or columns, group rows, and hide sections you do not need to see.
- Rectangular copy and paste
- Paste a block of cells from a tab-separated list. Formula references adjust when formulas are copied.
Personal Filter Views and shared filters
A personal filter view keeps your sorting and filters separate from the shared worksheet. Open the rows relevant to your work while a teammate uses a different view.
Ordinary filters and sorts change the shared sheet. Choose a personal view when the order matters only to you.
Files and sharing
Can I import a spreadsheet file?
Import CSV or TSV to create a workbook, up to 5 MB and one million cells. Excel workbook import is not currently supported.
Can I give someone access to one workbook?
Yes. Give another Magpie user Viewer, Commenter or Editor access to one workbook without adding them to the team. Commenter currently provides read access; spreadsheet comments are not yet available.
Can I export the data?
Export one worksheet at a time as CSV. It contains entered values and formula text, rather than calculated formula results, and does not preserve formatting or multiple sheets.
What works in the native app?
Read a 20-row by 10-column window, navigate to other cells, edit individual values or formula text, manage sheets and collaborators, and import or export CSV. Formula results are not calculated on the phone. The website provides the full grid and calculation tools.
