Talk in team channels or private two-person messages, reply in threads, and share files or voice notes. Pro teams can invite outside people into one channel without giving them workspace access.

Direct messages across teams and message requests
A direct message belongs to its two participants and stays the same whichever team you select. Start one with a teammate or someone’s exact handle.
Someone outside your teams sends a request. Until you accept, they can send three messages and no attachments. Accept, ignore or block the request. Account privacy settings allow new messages from anyone, only teammates or nobody.
Channels, threads and attachments
- Team channels
- Admins create and archive channels. An archived channel stops taking messages and can be restored; General cannot be archived.
- Threads and reactions
- Reply beside a parent message and add reactions. Deleting the parent message also deletes its thread replies.
- Private attachments
- Images, files and voice notes follow conversation access. The native app accepts up to five files of 25 MB each, and voice notes up to two minutes.
Outside guests in a members-only channel
On Pro, admins can convert a team channel to members-only and invite guests by handle or link. Guests need a Magpie account and handle; they can read, post and reply in that channel, with no access to the rest of the team.
Existing team members remain in the channel; later teammates can join it. The conversion cannot be undone. General and Personal channels cannot have guests. Invite links last seven days and admit up to 25 people.
Access and history
How much channel history is available?
Free allows five channels and retains up to 2,000 messages per channel. Pro allows 100 channels without a per-channel history cap. Pro also allows up to 100 outside guests for the team.
Can I search or export the conversation?
The current Chat screen can load older messages, but it has no conversation search or export control.
